About

Veronika Fekete's work explores the intricate dialogue between the living and the non-living — between object and being, having and living.

Her paintings delve into the tension between accumulation and disposal, permanence and loss, capturing the subtle, almost imperceptible movements that shape perception and existence.

Before dedicating herself fully to painting, Fekete built a distinguished scientific career, conducting research in Hungary, France, the United States, and Belgium. This background continues to inform her artistic inquiry, infusing her practice with a sense of investigation and discovery. She graduated from the School of Arts in Ixelles, where she was awarded the Prix du Collège des Bourgmestre et Échevins (2021–2022).

In her creative process, Fekete examines how the human brain filters visual information through layers of memory, personal history, and experience. Emerging through a patient, intuitive process, her canvases acquire a dynamic, living quality — works that seem to breathe and shift over time, inviting viewers into an intimate, ongoing dialogue.

Drawing inspiration from both historical and contemporary artists, Fekete’s visual language weaves together art historical references and deeply personal observation. Her paintings do not offer fixed interpretations; instead, they open a space for contemplation, where meaning is co-created between artwork and viewer.

Fekete has exhibited her work in solo and collective exhibitions across Belgium, including The Nine (2023), Chapelle de Boondael, KULT XL Ateliers, and Parcours d’Artistes d’Ixelles, where she received the Coup de Cœur distinction.

She currently lives and works in Brussels.
